Facebook's new "awesomeness"? Skype.

So Mark Z presented Facebook's new partnership with Skype today along with group chat. Good stuff. Now I'll be able to Skype video within FB. All good, and a nice step for FB to add video to their messaging/chat platform. I did, of course, install it straight away. It's a simple process and once completed you can video chat with other friends on FB from within your FB window (assuming they have also installed Skype video app on FB). If you try to video chat with a user that is not hooked up yet, they will be prompted to install the Skype client. Easy enough.

As i see it. This is an ok win-win for both parties. Skype can rake in boatloads of new users and Facebook can keep themselves a little stickier and compelling by adding video chat and keeping up with Google. The group chat is also interesting but I have to ask... what's new? I mean, group chat has been around for years.  We had group chat in the Compuserve client in 1998! Isn't it sorta of standard? Oh well. Need to go Skype somebody and see if it works.
